Description:

An M.Sc. course in meteorology and climate is offered by UCD School of Mathematical Sciences in partnership with Met Éireann. It provides scientific training in theoretical and applied meteorology and climatology. Alongside taught modules, an extended applied summer project and weekly weather discussions will integrate theory and applications.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
Applicants should hold a good bachelor's degree (Second Class Honours, Grade 2 or better; Grade Point Average (GPA) 2.48 or better) in mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering or other subject with a strong mathematical content. Though previous training in meteorology is not required, the course is strongly quantitative, and a solid foundation in mathematics (including vector calculus, linear algebra and ordinary differential equations) and classical physics (including mechanics and thermodynamics) is essential.
